ABOUT PERROTIS
President
President's Welcome

Reflecting on my time here at Perrotis College, the one idea to which I keep returning, is how privileged I am to lead such a unique institution. For those of you who have had the chance to visit our campus, or are enrolled in one of our many programs, the feeling I describe can come as no surprise. For those for whom this website offers a small glimpse of what we are about, I would like to welcome you – to welcome you to the holistic experience that is Perrotis College.

During my tenure as President, I have worked hard to enhance the programs and services we offer our students and the community at large, with the help of a devoted team of administrators and staff. Together we have looked to develop a program that is current, relevant and reflects the changing needs of this generation.

Our country is at a crossroads. Of this, and of the difficulties ahead, there is no question. But I continue to believe that it’s our students’ job to dream big and our job as educators is to set them on the path to making those dreams a reality. Through critical and entrepreneurial thinking, which remain core values in all that we do, we teach them to approach problems with a dynamic outlook that allows any obstacle to be overcome.

At Perrotis College we believe in learning by doing, and leading by example. Innovation, success and most importantly discovery and personal growth are continuous processes; they are lifelong commitments. Below you can get a glimpse of some of the latest initiatives we are working towards.

We hope that you will continue to appreciate and support our vision and ever-evolving direction. Thank you for understanding how vital the College’s work is, and for helping us grow the minds of Greece’s future.

Panos Kanellis, Ph.D.
President
Perrotis College

Short Bio

A Thessaloniki native, Dr. Kanellis graduated from Anatolia College in Thessaloniki, Greece and went on to complete undergraduate and graduate studies in the U.S., earning his Ph.D. in Bio-Organic Chemistry from the University of Houston, Texas. After several years of teaching and research in the field of bio-organic chemistry during academic appointments in the U.S., Dr. Kanellis returned to Greece, where he held top managerial positions in private industry before electing to serve his alma mater. From 1997 to 2009, Dr. Kanellis served as Executive Vice President and COO of Anatolia College, an academic institution operating a four-year business and liberal arts college with graduate programs, K-12 schools, and a two-year International Baccalaureate program. At Anatolia, Dr. Kanellis was instrumental in starting the school’s division of Primary Education, the International Baccalaureate and the MBA program.

In 2010, Dr. Kanellis was named the first Greek President of Perrotis College. Over the course of his tenure, the institution has made significant strides; cultivating a science-driven program anchored in a learn-by-doing methodology, environmental sustainability and life sciences.

Under Dr. Kanellis, a Center for Agricultural Entrepreneurship was created at Perrotis College in 2011 with support from the Niarchos Foundation, focusing on helping young Greek men and women to become involved in the agro-food sector.  In 2014, Dr. Kanellis spearheaded the establishment of the Perrotis College Krinos Olive Center in collaboration with the University of California at Davis.

Other important initiatives, poised to transform the educational landscape in Greece, include the establishment of the School of Professional Education; a move which looks to redefine the manner in which vocational training in the Agricultural sector is approached. The creation of a Student Services Center, modeled after the US student support services is another novel undertaking in Greece, which has helped students flourish both within and beyond the classroom. In the Fall of 2017, Perrotis College will welcome its first class of Graduate students, in the areas of Food Science and Marketing for the Food Sector in the expanded Perrotis College campus facilities.
