Fields of Study

Gain a global perspective on sustainable farming practices while living and learning in one of Europe’s most agriculturally rich regions. With a curriculum grounded in precision agriculture, environmental stewardship, and livestock management, students develop critical thinking, research, and hands-on skills using cutting-edge technologies. This program is ideal for those interested in sustainable food systems, environmental science, and international agriculture, offering real-world experience and preparation for graduate study or careers in agribusiness, policy, and environmental management.

The Food Science and Technology program offers study abroad students a unique opportunity to explore the science behind one of the world’s most essential and rapidly evolving industries.
Combining hands-on learning with a strong theoretical foundation in microbiology, nutrition, processing, and packaging, the program equips students with the skills needed to ensure food safety, innovation, and sustainability in global supply chains.
Studying in Greece—at the crossroads of traditional and modern food systems—students gain international perspective and real-world experience that prepares them for careers or graduate studies in food technology, quality assurance, product development, and more.

The International Business program offers study abroad students the chance to engage with global markets through the lens of agriculture, food industries, and sustainable tourism. With a strong emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and international trade, students gain practical experience and cultural insight while developing professional skills in marketing, management, and communication. Located in Greece—a dynamic hub for regional business and export activity—the program prepares students for leadership roles in global commerce and equips them to navigate diverse business environments with a focus on sustainability and cross-cultural understanding.

The Digital Marketing Management program offers study abroad students the opportunity to gain cutting-edge skills in one of today’s most in-demand fields while studying in a dynamic European context. Developed with input from industry experts and aligned with IDM standards, the program equips students with hands-on experience in SEO, content marketing, digital analytics, and social media strategy. By working on real campaigns and learning from faculty with both academic and professional backgrounds, students graduate prepared to lead in global marketing roles—with a competitive edge in digital strategy, branding, and international communications

The Environmental Science program at Perrotis College offers study abroad students a unique opportunity to explore global environmental challenges through an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach. Set in Greece’s diverse natural landscape, the program emphasizes fieldwork, research, and systems thinking to understand the dynamic interactions between the geosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. Students gain practical skills in environmental data collection, analysis, and communication while examining the social, economic, and ethical dimensions of sustainability. Ideal for those pursuing careers or graduate study in environmental policy, conservation, or sustainability science.

Perrotis College Fall Term Program is a 12-week program, beginning in late September and ending around December 20th. Students enroll in 4 courses, totaling 12 credits (up to 15 credits available for an additional fee). In order to get fully immersed into Greek culture, all students are required to enroll in the Greek Cultural Experience course (3 credits). 

 

The remaining courses are chosen from our fields of study.

Perrotis College Spring Term Program is a 12-week program, beginning in late January and ending around April 20th. It allows students to enroll in 4 courses, totaling 12 credits (up to 15 credits available for an additional fee). In order to get fully immersed into Greek culture, all students are required to enroll in the Greek Cultural Experience course (3 credits). 

 

The remaining courses are chosen from our fields of study.

Learn more about Spring Courses

Perrotis College Summer Term Program is a 6-week program, from the beginning of June until mid-July. Students may earn up to 6 credits. A no credit option is also available. 

 

In order to get fully immersed into Greek culture, all students are required to enroll in the Greek Cultural Experience course and choose to enroll in one of the following programs: 

 

1. 6–week Intensive Courses: 

2. Supervised Research: Students conduct research with other like-minded individuals in our new, modern laboratories, our educational farm or fields under the supervision of a research supervisor. 

3. Work Internship: Students enroll as work interns in one of our educational farm units; our Dairy Farm unit or Horticulture unit.

Program Basics & Eligibility

Undergraduate students from accredited universities are welcome to apply. Most programs are open to students from any major, though some courses may have prerequisites. We welcome first-time travelers, transfer students, and those with no prior international experience.

We recommend speaking to a study abroad advisor at your home institution for their procedures and deadlines.  If approved to apply, prospective students must submit the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM and a resume. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for acceptance. Upon receiving the form, the study abroad committee will review the application and supporting documents. An email notification and acceptance letter will be sent to the email the student has provided.

All of our programs are under the 89 day limit so there is no visa requirement for our study abroad students.

Absolutely! Our programs are designed for students of all experience levels. All instruction is in English, and we offer orientation and support throughout your stay to help you adjust smoothly to Greek culture and life abroad.

Many students choose to study abroad during their sophomore or junior year, but we have participants from all undergraduate levels. Fall and Spring semesters are the most popular, but we also offer short-term and summer programs.

You can choose from semester-long programs (Fall/Spring) that are 12 weeks long, summer (six weeks), or faculty-led short-term programs depending on your goals and availability.

Travel & Logistics

Yes! Students are housed in modern residence halls on campus. Rooms are shared with other study abroad or Perrotis College students and include Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and easy access to campus amenities.

Airfare is not included, as students arrive from various locations. However, we provide detailed guidance on booking travel and navigating arrivals.

We offer airport pick-up from 9am to 5pm on our designated arrival day. Our staff will meet you at Thessaloniki Airport and bring you directly to campus.  Students arriving outside those times can easily take a taxi to campus and arrive in under 15 minutes.

Our in-depth orientation covers cultural adaptation, campus resources, health and safety, academic expectations, and even includes a tour of Thessaloniki to help you feel at home right away.

Academics & Credits

Our Fall semester runs from September to December, and Spring from January to April. Summer programs usually run in June and July. Academic calendars will be shared upon acceptance.

Courses are academically engaging but designed with international students in mind. You’ll receive personal attention from professors and have plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning.

Many students earn credits toward their major, minor, or general education requirements. You’ll work with your home university to get courses pre-approved before departure.

Yes, Perrotis College provides a full transcript at the end of your program. Be sure to work with your study abroad advisor to ensure your credits will transfer appropriately.

Finances & Scholarships

Program fees typically include tuition, full room and board, orientation, cultural excursions, and some local transportation. Airfare, some meals and personal spending are not included.

We’re transparent about costs. You should budget for meals, optional travel, and personal expenses.

We do not currently offer any reduced prices.  Check with your study abroad advisor about any opportunities that exist from your home institution.

In many cases, yes. You’ll need to speak with your study abroad advisor and financial aid office to determine eligibility and arrange the necessary paperwork.

Culture & Student Life

Campus life is vibrant and welcoming, with a strong sense of community. Students enjoy beautiful natural surroundings, student clubs, events, and access to city life in Thessaloniki.

We offer excursions to cultural and historical sites, a cooking class, a Greek dance lesson, hiking trips, local festivals, and optional weekend travel. You’ll also have chances to volunteer and get involved in campus life.

You’ll live and study alongside both Greek and international students, creating a diverse and enriching learning environment.

We offer short term counseling, peer mentors, and a close-knit community to help you feel connected and supported.  We can suggest private professionals if you need something further.

Health & Safety

Yes. All students are required to have international health insurance that covers them while in Greece. Most US universities provide this.  Let us know if you need anything further.

Greece has excellent healthcare. Our staff will help you access English-speaking doctors and local clinics if needed. Pharmacies are also widely available.

Yes, Thessaloniki is considered one of the safest cities in Greece. Like any urban area, we advise students to use common sense, but crime is generally low and locals are very friendly.

Application & Next Steps

Deadlines vary by program, but we recommend applying at least 3–6 months in advance. Make sure you first consult the study abroad office at your university for their deadlines, which are usually earlier than ours.  Check our website or contact us for current deadlines.

A short personal statement may be part of the process – if you are applying for our summer research or work internship program. We want to understand your goals and make sure we connect you with the right supervisor.

We usually start communicating with students once our application cycle is completed.  Then, we request additional paperwork, invite you to our pre-departure information session and supply you with details about orientation, excursions and much more!
