Faculty & Staff
The Perrotis College academic program is taught by a core of dedicated, highly qualified and caring full-time instructors, along with a part-time staff made up of professionals from the tourism and food industries, agribusiness, farming, landscaping, environmental science, soil science, horticulture, livestock management and other fields. Full-time faculty also provide academic advising to all students and assist them through various other administrative and student services, including coordinating each of the academic programs; providing career and post-graduate study guidance and referral services for personal and learning challenges counselling; and organizing student study visits and field trips. Owing to the community atmosphere of the College, faculty spend ample time with students outside the classroom, organizing informal meetings and tutoring sessions, participating with them in cultural and extra-curricular activities, and simply being available to provide students with guidance or assistance as necessary. 

Dr. Konstantinos Rotsios is the Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies at Perrotis College. He is also the Chair of the International Business Department. He earned his BSc and MSc degrees from the University of Minnesota, and his MBA from the University of Macedonia inThessaloniki. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia. His academic interests include international business, strategic alliances, international joint ventures, knowledge management, knowledge transfer, Food and Beverage SMEs and exports. Food Science & Technology Major
TRYFON ADAMIDIS - Chair of Food Science & Technology Program (full time)
Dr. Tryfonas Adamidis is an associate professor at Perrotis College, responsible for the Food Science and Technology pathway. He earned his PhD from Michigan State University, and his BSc in Agriculture with a concentration in Food Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research interests include food quality, microbiology, and product development. Contact: 



Dr. Kiki Zinoviadou is an Assistant Professor at Perrotis College in the Food Science and Technology pathway. She earned her PhD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a fellow of the Ministry of Education, her MSc. in Product and Ingredient Functionality from Wageningen University in the Netherlands after being awarded a scholarship from NUFFIC (Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education), and her BSc in Food Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her research interests include the development of delivery systems and biopolymer based antimicrobial packaging, as well as the understanding of the factors that determine the relationship between sensory perception, texture, microstructure, physicochemical properties and shelf-life of food systems. She has attended various seminars concerning the sensory evaluation of olive oil and is a member of the National Table Olive Taste Panel. Contact: Publications


Efstratios Souglis is a Veterinarian (D.V.M.) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a title from The School of Agricultural Technology  and a Masters degree (M.Sc) in Husbandry and Pathology of Ruminants from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In his current position he manages the American Farm School (AFS) educational dairy herd and the Dairy Milk and Milk Products Processing Plant, and is responsible for the health and well-being of all animal units at the A.F.S. educational farms. These include a dairy cow herd of 120 milking cows, a poultry operation of 25.000 egg laying hens, 42.000 turkeys, a poultry meat slaughterhouse, a hatchery, and an educational feed mill unit. Other tasks involve application and management of food safety and quality management systems to all farm products (ISO 22000, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO14001:2004), contacts with national and EU authorities. He is a Perrotis College lecturer for modules in Dairy and Animal Science.


Nikolaos Gizgis holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Ioannina and an MSc in Quality Control & Environmental Management from Technical University of Crete. He specialises in Food Safety Management Systems, food legislation and authorization procedures for new establishments. He serves as Quality Assurance Manager with companies in the food sector, such as dairies, wineries and companies in olive and olive oil production, canning, water bottling, and pastry production. His research interests include novel product authorisation, food industry waste and wastewater management, and nutritional analysis of foods. Contact:


Nikolaos Chatzilias holds an MSc and a BSc in Food Science from the University of California at Davis. He specialises in food engineering, heat transfer and canning in foods, and microbiological analysis. He has held senior management positions with companies in the food sector, such as NESTLE, North Aegean Sea Canneries, MEVGAL and Zanae. His research interests include new product development, heat transfer in foods, the development of mathematical models and their applications to microbiological analysis of foods. Contact:



Dr. Vassiliki Papoti is a Chemistry lecturer. She holds a BSc in Chemistry from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc in Chemical Analysis and Quality Control and a PhD in Food Chemistry and Technology from the same university. Her teaching experience includes courses related to food analysis, instrumental food analysis and analytical chemistry. Her research experience includes optimization of processes for the production of functional food products, development of methodolgies for the exploitation of natural bioactive compounds, study of natural products composition and bioactivity, as well as quality control issues related to food contaminants. Her research interests concern the fields of olive and other natural products, antioxidants and other bioactive phytochemicals, functional foods, as well as method development for the appraisal of the bioactive potential of products. Theodoros Kallitsis holds a Ph.D. in Food Science / Food Microbiology and an M.Sc. in Food Science / Food Process – Engineering, both from the University of California at Davis and he is Veterinarian by training at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has been hired since 1998 as senior food scientist in Goody’s S.A., a leading Food Corporation in Greece with important activities in various countries. He has been managing projects in new product development and new activities. His particular interests focus in food product development and problem solving in production and preservation of foods and he is trained as food communication expert. Publications

SOFIA LALOU (part time)

Dr. Sofia Lalou is a Lecturer in Chemistry. She holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry (specialization in Food Chemistry) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc and a PhD in Food Chemistry and Technology from the same university. She has teaching experience in courses related to food analysis, instrumental food analysis, analytical chemistry and oenology. Her research activity was awarded in 2014 by AUTH Research Committee with the Excellence Scholarship Award for PhD Candidates. She has worked in several food related projects with multidisciplinary teams in three different countries and she has actively participated in the supervision of undergraduate dissertations. Her research interests lie in the fields of fermented products, agro-industrial wastes valorization, immobilization of microorganisms (mainly yeast cells and probiotic bacteria), process optimization for generation of bioactive value-added ingredients, new food products development, quality control and sensory analysis of food products. Dr Panagiotis Kabouridis earned his BSc in Biology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and his MSc and PhD degrees in Molecular Biology from San Diego State University (SDSU) and University of California San Diego (UCSD). He followed an academic career in London, UK, initially as Research Scientist at the Medical Research Council (MRC) and subsequently, as faculty member, taught and pursued his research at Queen Mary University London (QMUL). He also held an honorary appointment with the University College London (UCL), and a visiting scientist appointment with the MRC. His academic interests include molecular biology, cell membrane structure and biochemical pathways, and the impact of diet on the gut microbiome and health. Dr Kabouridis has published research in high impact scientific journals. He was awarded a Career Development Award from the Welcome Trust (UK) for his work on the crucial role of lipids in cell membrane structure and function, as well as other grant awards from various research funding agencies.

Sustainable Agriculture & Management Major

CHRISTOS VASILIKIOTIS (full time) - Chair of Sustainable Agriculture & Management Program 
Dr. Christos Vasilikiotis received his PhD in cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley and a BSc in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He completed coursework in Agroecology as a visiting scholar at the Agroecology Laboratory at UC Berkeley, and online courses on Organic Field Crop Management at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. He is currently attending an online Masters Program in Agronomy at Iowa State University. He has taught at UC Berkeley, Stanford University and the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Thessaloniki. He is also an instructor in the master’s degree program on Sustainable Agriculture at the Mediterranean Agricultural Institute in Chania, Crete. He has served as a Certification Manager at one of Greece’s organic certification agencies. His research interests include agroecological design of farming systems, research in organic agriculture, permaculture and community-based food systems. 

Dr. Athanasios Gertsis earned his PhD in Agronomy from Texas Tech University, and his BSc and MSc in Soils-Crop Physiology and Simulation Modelling from Mississippi State University. He holds Diplomas of Agricultural Technology from the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Thessaloniki and ASPAITE (certified educator), and has conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Thessaly. He participates in and coordinates major EU- and nationally-funded research, as well as joint research projects funded by agricultural sector businesses, and publishes findings widely in peer reviewed journals and other media. Current areas of research interest concentrate on innovative crop production systems in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, focusing on sustainable environmental management systems and materials used through Low Input Sustainable Agriculture (LISA) and Precision Agriculture concepts. Dr. Evdokia Krystallidou received her PhD in Animal Nutrition and an MSc in Dairy Animal Science from the University of Reading after being awarded a scholarship from IKY (Greek state scholarship institute). She holds Diplomas in Animal Production from the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Thessaloniki and ASPAITE (certified educator). She worked as a part time lecturer at the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Thessaloniki and Larisa and as an advisor at Hellenic Feed Industries (ΕΛΒΙΖ). Her research interests include animal nutrition and its impact on animal products and human health, monitoring feed formulations to meet quality performance and animal health standards, and evaluating chemical and nutritional value of feeds. 


Eleni Koutsogeorgiou holds an Integrated Master in Agriculture (Crop Production pathway) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as an MSc in Systems Biology (Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics) from the Agricultural University of Athens. She is a lecturer of Entomology and has worked as a post graduate researcher in numerous research projects regarding Crop Protection with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods. She specializes in Chemical Ecology and her main research interests include olfaction, chemosensory transduction and characterization of olfactory receptors (ORs) in insects. Contact:


Liolios Vasileios is lecturer in the Environmental System Management Pathway. He is a member of the first graduating class of Perrotis College (class of 1997-1998). After finishing his studies here, he continued on to obtain his BSc from Writtle College, Essex University, UK  in Horticulture Crop Production. To enrich his knowledge and gather some research experience, Liolios Vasileios pursued an MSc in Temperate Horticulture Crop Production from Reading University. Currently, he teaches modules related to horticulture such as Horticulture Science, Greenhouse Technology and Management, Principles of Plant Breeding, plant propagation and Genetics. At the same time, he supervises dissertation projects which are related to the horticultural industry. For more than ten years, he also runs 'Nature Links', his own landscape-garden constuction and maintenance business. Contact:
Christos Kissoudis holds a BSc and an MSc, with a specialization in Plant Genetics and Breeding, from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During his MSc, he worked on biotechnological approaches to increase herbicide and stress tolerance in tobacco. He obtained his PhD from Wageningen University in the Netherlands investigating the genetic utilization of wild species and other genetic resources of tomato for achieving increased stress tolerance and pathogen resistance. He subsequently worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Plant Breeding department of Wageningen University. His research interests include crop improvement and the exploitation of their wild relatives and landraces with biotechnological and genomics-assisted plant breeding techniques, molecular plant physiology and pathology and the characterization and utilization of biotechnology-driven innovative agricultural practices.  Publications

Konstantinos Zoukidis is an Adjunct Lecturer / Researcher at Perrotis College in the Department of Agro Environmental Systems Management. He holds an Integrated Master’s Degree in Agriculture in Department of HydraulicsSoil Science and Agricultural Engineering and an M.Sc. with honors, in Soil Science and Soil Resources Management from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests include soil, plant tissue and irrigation water analysis, soil and irrigation water management, horticulture, viticulture and enology, plant nutrition and soil fertility management and Precision Agriculture concepts.

NATHALIE KAMOU (part time)

Kamou Nathalie holds a PhD, a MSc and a BSc in Plant Pathology from the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her research was oriented on screening for new bacterial biocontrol agents against plant pathogenic fungi and isolating and identifying microbial metabolites (e.g. antibiotics, enzymes). She specialized on biocontrol of plant pathogenic fungi by beneficial rhizobacteria and also biocontrol of weeds by host specific pathogenic fungi. During these years she gained experience also in gene expression analysis after fungi - rhizobacteria interactions after a short-term training, during 2014, at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala. Her working experience includes working as a consultant at Mihail Vassilios (FAS) supervising the experimental cereal fields and as a consultant for ELGEKA group of Companies, participating in the organisational team in the designing and planning of an industrial glass house for the production of Medical Cannabis. Her research interests concern plant-microbe interactions in the rhizosphere, biological control, analytical chemistry, diagnostics and plant pathology. Contact:

Dr. Konstantinos Ntouros earned his Ph.D. in Remote Sensing & GIS from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, his M.Sc. in Soil Science and Soil Resources Management with emphasis in GIS from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his B.S.c from School of Agriculture of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has over fifteen years of working experience in the domain of Geo-informatics and in Environmental Impact Assessment studies for public sector infrastructure projects. He has twelve years of teaching experience in higher education level. He has participated in EU and nationally-funded research projects and has published his research work in peer-reviewed journals and International Conference proceedings. His research interests include hyperspectral imagery/data analysis in agricultural sector and development of cloud-based GIS applications. Contact:  Publications


Nektaria Tsivelika holds a BSc in Agronomy and an MSc with a specialization in Genetics and Plant Breeding, from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment, School of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her research focuses on genetic study and breeding of Greek native chamomile populations. She worked as an agronomist in Greek organizations. She also worked in many research projects at ELGO – DEMETER, the national center for research, training, and certification in agriculture.

  Environmental Science Major GEORGIOS FYTIANOS - Coordinator  
Dr. Georgios Fytianos is an Assistant Professor at Perrotis College in the Department of Environmental Science. He holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry (specialization in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc. in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Department of Civil Engineering. He earned his PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering, NTNU, Norway. He has conducted post-doc research in Greece and Japan. Before his enrolment with Perrotis College, Dr. Fytianos was Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo, Department of Ocean Technology, Policy and Environment. His teaching experience includes courses related to water technology, environmental engineering, climate change and environmental analytical chemistry. His research interests include CO2 Capture and Storage (CCS), corrosion mitigation, wastewater valorization and cosmetic chemistry. Contact:


Dr. Alexandra Demertzi is a Forest and Natural Environment Scientist with focus on biodiversity conservation strategies, forest and natural environment ecosystem integrity maintenance, and GIS. She holds a BSc from the Forestry and Natural Environment School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), an MSc in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development from the Civil Engineering School of AUTH and a PhD from the same department focused on methods of highlighting the important biodiversity areas in forest ecosystems. Dr. Demertzi’s area of expertise focuses on devising plans and methods to preserve ecological balance in protected areas based on data collection methods, investigative research, and innovative technologies. 


Dr. Grigorios Itskos is Adjunct Professor at Perrotis College in the Environmental Science Program. Dr. Itskos holds a PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering (NTUA, 2012) and has several years of involvement in multi-partner, milestone-driven R&D projects in the EU and the US, with focus on advanced materials, energy, and the environment. Between 2016-2020, Dr. Itskos was a key member of a Purdue University-led consortium that pioneered the fabrication (via chemical metallurgy) and testing of advanced components for concentrated solar power (CSP) systems. Prior to that, he was Asst. Professor at Nazarbayev University (2014-16) where he taught several courses on Materials Science and Engineering. He joined Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) as Sr. Research Scientist in 2020, and currently participates in several EU-funded research projects with focus on achieving breakthrough energy efficiency and emissions mitigation. At Perrotis College, Dr. Itskos teaches a 1st year environmental science course on Management of Energy Resources.  


Yiannis N. Kontos, born in Larissa, Greece in 1981, is a Civil Engineering (MEng in Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering; School of Civil Engineering, Aristotle Univ. of Thessaloniki - AUth, 2005), and obtained his PhD in Groundwater Resources Management in 2013 with Honors, titled “Optimization of Fractured Coastal Aquifers’ Management with Pollution Problems”, sponsored by a Greek “State Scholarship Foundation” (IKY) scholarship. He has concluded 2 post-docs in the same scientific field (ELGO-DEMETER, 2015 and AUth, 2015), having participated in 6 international and national Research Programs (AUth, ELGO-DEMETER, IME-GSEVEE). He is the author/co-author of 28 book chapters/journal papers/peer-reviewed conference papers, 7 technical reports and 4 theses. Since 2006 he has been involved in teaching as a Teaching Assistant, Teaching Associate and Lecturer in: School of Civil Engineering of AUTh; Dpt of Civil Engineering (Technological Education) of Larissa, of the Univ. of Applied Sciences of Thessaly; Mediterranean College, School of Engineering, BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering & Construction – (Univ. of Derby programme); AMC Metropolitan College - Thessaloniki campus (BEng Hons Civil Engineering and Construction; MEng Mechanical Engineering & Manufacturing - Univ. of East London UK; MSc Civil Engineering & the Built Environment -Univ. of Portsmouth UK, being a Programme Leader in those programs too), in courses: Groundwater Hydraulics, Groundwater Hydraulics & Hydrology, Land Reclamation, Hydrodynamic Engineering - Dams/Lab., Hydraulics-Theory & Lab., Port Planning, Geothermal Energy, Groundwater Resources Exploitation and Protection, Hydraulics of Groundwater Flows, Fluids and Drainage Engineering, Material & Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Management for Civil Engineering, Math and Fluid Mechanics. Currently he is a researcher in the School of Civil Engineering of AUth, a research associate in IME-GSEVEE and a lecturer in Perrotis College (B.Sc. Environmental Science, teaching Principles of Environmental Hydrology). Athanasios Falaras is a PhD student at the University of Macedonia/Department of Business Administration. Currently he is a lecturer at Perrotis College teaching “Modelling and Statistics” at the course of Environmental Science. He has graduated from the School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences. In addition he holds a Master’s Degree at Information Systems/University of Macedonia. Moreover his academic interests include entrepreneurship, innovation and data analysis.


Digital Marketing Management Major HARIS SPYROPOULOS - Coordinator

Haris Spyropoulos is a multilingual, multicultural senior manager with a strong focus in Marketing and Business Development. Haris holds the Sheffiled Univerisity MBA, a bachelor in Economics and Business Administration from Aristotle University, and the Abertay Dundee Post Graduate Certification for Higher Education Teaching. His research interests are in the fields of innovation marketing, while serving as a member of MIT Enterprize Forum Judge team. Haris has a proven track record in building new business, international sales, marketing and cross-cultural management, incorporating Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa. Committed to providing an exceptional, high quality customer service, by increasing customer perceived value and optimising processes.


Dr. Dimitra Mitka, is a post-doc researcher and a Digital Media lecturer.She holds a PhD degree in Journalism and Digital Mass Media, as well a Master’s degree in Communication, Culture & New Media both from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki She is also a qualified translator and has been awarded scholarships by the Greek State Grant Authority (ΙΚΥ) for her doctoral studies.Her main research expertise lies in the science of Digital Media with emphasis on Environmental Communication, Digital Marketing and Social Media. She is also occupied with media literacy and  media - gender issues. She has worked as adjunct lecturer teaching Digital Media Strategies,New Media, Environmental Communication and has participated in the supervision of many undergraduate dissertations.
Eleana Goudira holds a BA in Fashion Promotion and an MA in Fashion Marketing & Service Design from the University of Central Lancashire in the UK. Also, she holds an MA in Marketing in Communications from the University of Westminster in London. Eleana is a certified member of IPA, the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising Foundation in the UK and holds a Digital Marketing Certification and an Award in GDPR with Distinction from the Digital Marketing Institute, UK. Elle has experience of six years in teaching classes related to business, management and marketing with expertise in Communications, Marketing and Fashion. She is lecturing in both Bachelor and Master courses until today, and her students achieved Merit and Distinction Diplomas. Elle has been active in the work arena since 2014 and has worked and covered Editor & Digital Editor, Content & Social Media Manager and Project Manager positions in her so far career. International Business Major KONSTANTINOS ROTSIOS, Chair 

Maria Emmanouilidou is a PhD candidate at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds an MSc in Agricultural Economics and a BSc with Honors in Agriculture from the same University. She works for the Development Agency of Thessaloniki S.A., as a member of the Local Action Group, within the framework of Community Initiative LEADER+ and Axis 4 “Implementation of LEADER Approach of Rural Development Programme of Greece 2007-2013.” She is also active as an instructor in adult education and vocational training. Her research interests include agrotourism, social capital and stakeholders, development of the countryside, policy implications, entrepreneurship, and food and society. Contact:  


Konstantinos Antoniou holds an MSc in International Economics, Banking and Finance from the University of Walesin Cardiff, UK and a BA in Economics from the University of Essex, UK. He specializes in equity transactions and international investments. He has extensive experience in senior management positions in the finance and banking sector. Contact:


Matthildi Saritza holds an MBA from the University ofNottingham, a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, and a BSc from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Currently she is a partner in 4-Efficiency, a marketing and sales consulting firm. She formerly served as Export Manager and Sales Director of FLORINA-HONEOS SA, and is a member of the Hellenic Management Association and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She served as elected Executive Director of the Exporters’ Association of Northern Greece, and as President of the Hellenic Institute of Marketing. Matthildi’s research interests include international marketing strategy, consumer behavior and cultures across nations, and the organization and structure of international corporations.

EVITA GANTINA (part time)

Born in Thessaloniki  she has more than twenty years’ experience in senior positions in Greek and International companies . She holds an MA in Business Communication and Public Relations and BBA Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Houston. She is fluent in English and Greek and has basic knowledge of French and German. For several years she was a member of the Board of Directors and/or an owner or senior manager of companies in the textile manufacturing industry. Since 2001 she teaches at tertiary level also becoming the Executive Director of a college in Thessaloniki. She left the College in 2011 to become a partner in "For Communication" a  Communications & Public Relations-On line Marketing Firm. Contact: 

George Kartsiotis holds two BSc, two MSc and is now a Phd candidate; he received his first BSc in Mathematics from the Aristotle University, his second BSc in Applied Informatics from the University of Macedonia with honors (1st of his class), his first MSc with honours from the Electrical and Computer Engineering school in Advanced Communication and Intelligent Systems and his second MSc with honors from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Theoretical Computer Science and Control Theory. Currently he is a PhD candidate at the Applied Informatics department at the University of Macedonia and has worked for various computer software and web development companies with extensive experience in vocational education. His main research interests include bio inspired algorithms, optimal path planning, self assembling robots, theoretical computer science and logic related problems. 



Maria Soumelidou holds a Degree (with Honours) in Economics - Business Administration, a Degree (with Honours) in Law, both from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and an MSc (with Distinction) in Farm Management from Reading University, U.K., Department of Agriculture. She has extensive experience in senior management positions with several leading commercial, agricultural and E.U. consulting firms and institutions (such as E.TSANTALIS S.A, EUROCONSULTANTS S.A, American Farm School of Thessaloniki, etc.). She was also active as a lecturer in E.U. funded seminars and forums and has conducted several feasibility studies regarding agricultural entrepreneurship in Bulgaria and in the prefecture of Kavala,Greece within the framework of Interreg and Leader 1. Dr. Nikolaos Sklavounos is a lecturer in the International Business department at Perrotis College. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. He also earned his BSc and MBA degrees from the University of Macedonia. His academic interests include international business, international strategic alliances, international joint ventures, exports and human capital. He is an accredited instructor of adult continuing education and has extensive teaching experience in the fields of business and management. He has worked as International Sales Manager, International Key Account Manager and International Business Development Manager at Adtraxion Systems B.V. Dr. Stella Despoudi is Adjunct Lecturer in Business Studies at Perrotis College. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Operations and Supply Chain Management from Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics. In UK she worked for Aston Business School, Warwick University, Coventry University, and Loughborough University. Her research expertise lies in the following research areas: food supply chain management, food supply chain resilience, circular economy, emergency logistics, food waste and food sustainability. Currently she works on a multi-partner projects related to food supply chain resilience, climatic changes, circular economy and Industry 4.0 funded from ESRC and other international funding bodies. She is Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in UK.

Mr. Lefteris Papadopoulos holds a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an M.Sc. degree in Operational Research from the University of Southampton, a PostGraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching from the University of Sheffield and is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy in the U.K.. He has spent more than 20 years in Financial Institutions (Greece and Romania) and in parallel as part-time Lecturer and Seminar Instructor. Since 2017, Mr. Papadopoulos is Expert-Evaluator for the SME Instrument H2020 in European Commission covering the sectors of Nanotechnology, E-Learning and Agricultural products. Dr. Christina Konstantinidou is an environmental expert, with main activities related to the provision of energy saving and environmental optimization solutions in a building and urban scale. She has several years working experience and international expertise, managing
sustainability-related projects and acting as a technical advisor. She is a certified Energy Auditor, a certified Sustainable and Alternative Tourism consultant, a LEED Green Associate and a WELL AP. She holds a diploma in Civil Engineering (Dipl.-Eng.) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a MSc in Sustainable Design from the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

General Administration


Sophia Mihalaki started her career in 1988 as a Certified Auditor with Ernst & Young in Athens. In 1993, she joined the Thessaloniki office of Deloitte and was soon promoted to Principal, Head of Office. She acquired extensive experience serving Greek and multinational entities. She also served as an auditor at the Hellenic Court of Auditors. In 2010 she joined the position of Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of the American Farm School and Perrotis College. Sophia holds a degree in Economics from the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki and a post-graduate degree in European Economic Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium. Contact:  


Dr. Evangelos Vergos is the Dean of the School of Professional Education and Director of the Educational Farm of the American Farm School. He earned his BSc degree in animal production from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his Ph.D. in Biotechnology of Reproduction of farm animals from UCD Ireland. He has participated in a number of postgraduate seminars in Greece and abroad (Harvard Scholarship, MDP 2000) for self-development. As an international freshman College student and AFS graduate represented Greece to the FFA. He’s an accredited instructor and has extensive extension experience in the fields ofanimal production management. Besides, he’s teaching study abroad Perrotis College students. His main professional interests include contemporary agribusiness development and their impact to rural communities in Greece and abroad. Thus, he associates with agrofood companies, organizations and academic institutions to implement innovation, entrepreneurship and employment promotion programs in Greece, the Balkan and African countries. He’s a member of the Agrotechnology committee of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce, the review ad hoc committee of the Ministry of Education for higher professional education programs, the Organic Farming Cluster of the Federation of Industrialists of Northern Greece, the National Agricultural Network, and the European Society of Animal Production. Dr. Filippos Papadopoulos is the Director of the Strategic Project Management Office of AFS.He earned his PhD from the London School of Economics, his M.A. in International Relations from the University of Sussex and a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. He has been active as a trainer and organizational consultant in the public and private sector and is currently consultant of the University of Macedonia for quality assurance in tertiary education. His research interests include: entrepreneurship and innovation, organizational and national culture, product development and consumer behavior in the food sector. Contact: 



Despina Theodoridou has been the Head of Institutional Human Resources since 2010. An HR generalist with expertise in the application of labor legislation, payroll and benefits, recruitment and selection, professional development and personnel assessment. Despina has attended numerous postgraduate courses in Adult Education and Management. She is a member of the Greek People Management Association and has also worked as Program Coordinator at the Lifelong Learning Department of the American Farm School. Previous appointment (1995-1997), Head of Production of the Galaxidi Marine Farm S.A. nursery.  First degree in Zoology from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and Masters in Aquaculture from Stirling University. Stavroula Antonopoulou is the Chief Administration Officer. She holds a B.Sc. and a Master of Education in Continuing Education from University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. She is responsible for the financial, administrative and personnel services, along with maintaining day to day use of facilities, in order to meet legislative requirements and support operations. She is also experienced in adult education programs and managing and reporting of EU co-funded projects. Ms Antonopoulou has published extensively on her field of expertise and participated in many conferences and training courses. Contact:   


Katherine Pitselis is the Outreach & Foundation Coordinator. She has lived and studied in Canada and the U.S. for many years. She is a graduate of McGill University with degrees in Industrial Relations and Social Sciences. Katherine received her English teaching diploma from the University of Michigan. She has a wide range of experience teaching English and preparing students for various level Cambridge and Michigan language exams. Her career experience includes having worked at Mandoulides Private Schools and Perrotis College/American Farm School, where she taught advanced level English to students and trained them to enter various undergraduate degree programs. Her activities also include the language improvement of professionals in various fields (e.g. Administration, economics, accounting) as well as English translation of professional texts. Contact:
Leighanne Penna graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Studies (2002) and a Master’s degree in Higher Education (2006) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  From 2003-2006, she worked at the University of Massachusetts’ Residence Life Department.  Immediately after her masters, she started her PhD Program in Higher Education with a specialty in K-12 Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Denver.  During her doctoral coursework, she held various graduate positions in the following departments, including the Teacher Education Program, Educational Administration Program, and the Multicultural Center.   She also served as the Vice President and afterwards President for the Graduate Student Association, representing 6,000 graduate students on campus.  For four summers, she worked for Duke University’s Talent Identification Program coordinating academic summer programs for gifted 13-18 year olds.  In 2009, she moved to Thessaloniki to direct Northeastern University’s pre-freshmen program at the American College of Thessaloniki and afterwards worked at Anatolia College in the US College Counseling Office.  September 2015, she started working at the American Farm School & Perrotis College as the Director of Student Life. Pantelis Hantzaras is the Residence Life Coordinator. He received his Bachelor degree from Perrotis College, with a major in International Business, after completing his secondary education at the American Farm School. In both educational programs, he received the prestigious Bruce and Tad Lansdale Leadership Award. He has undertaken training in Student Affairs from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Colorado State University and National Kapodistrian University. As a resident student on the campus of the American Farm School and Perrotis College throughout his education, Pantelis has developed a strong multicultural perspective. Athanasios Bizmpiroulas is the Administrative Assistant. He received his Bachelor Degree in International Business from Perrotis College. He is responsible for assisting the Administration Officer and provides administrative support to college staff and faculty, ensuring the efficient operation of the College. His research interests include Food Exports and the Development of Export Activities. KALLY CHALKIA (full time)


Kally Chalkia holds an MA in Marketing Communications from Bournemouth University in the UK and a BSc in Marketing from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. She lived in Chicago and London for a total of 11 years before returning to Thessaloniki in 2008. She has extensive experience working in the nonprofit sector. In 2018 she started working at the American Farm School’s Student Services Department. She is currently the Administrative Coordinator at Perrotis College. Contact: 


Damiana Koutsomiha is the Head Librarian of Dimitris & Aliki Perrotis Library. She holds a BSc on Library and Information Systems and a MScEcon on Management of Library and Information Services from the University of Aberystwyth, Wales. She promotes library services to the community through education, outreach and participation in professional conferences, trainings, publications and research groups. Her research interests cover a range of issues such as digital literacies, evaluation of Web resources, knowledge management, library instruction. Over the years her vision and mission as a librarian has taken concrete form: to strengthen the learning process of students and the general public and provide the means and foundations through teaching for the development of critical thinking in the chaos of information and the fundamental value of lifelong learning. When not teaching she likes to return to her first favorite job as librarian: identifying information and reaching where her users cannot and ultimately provide them with the necessary tools to reach the desired information on their own. Contact:

IRO SOTIRIADOU (full time)

Iro Sotiriadou is the Perrotis College liaison librarian working at the "Dimitris & Aliki Perrotis" Central Library and at the "Information & Media Hub" Satellite Library located at the Aliki Perroti Educational Center at Perrotis College. She is responsible for managing both Libraries' electronic resources. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature and an MA in Translation Studies both from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as a BSc in Library Science and Information Systems from the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. She focuses on serving library users and promoting library services through the development of electronic resources (online Library Guides, Library's website development, etc.) and digital curation of Library's digital assets (digital Archives, Institutional Repository, etc.), as well as provides research assistance and guidance to the Perrotis College students and faculty. During the years working as a librarian, her mission and vision has shifted in turning the Library's patrons from passive and dependent users to active and independent users and learners, by promoting metacognitive strategies in library instruction. Gregorios Sougaris holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Agriculture Business Management from University of Essex, an MSc in Food Industry Management and Marketing from the University of London (Imperial College), and an Executive MBA from the International Hellenic University. He is also a Perrotis College graduate, the first graduating class of 1998. He has worked at the Marketing Department of Allatini Group SA, and since 2006 has been coordinating the Admissions procedure and Recruitment activities of Perrotis College. Today is the Recruitment Coordinator at the Enrolment Department, implementing promotional activities for Perrotis College. Contact:


Haroula Katzani is the Director of Finance. She is an Economist with a BSc in Business Economic Administration from the Department of Law & Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.  She is responsible for overseeing all the College’s financial activities in order to ensure its strong financial structure and economic development.  Her career experience includes having worked at the Financial Department of the American Farm School since 1994.  In her current position she is responsible for preparing the annual operating and capital budget, monitoring the cash flow on daily basis, analyzing financial data into key performance metrics as well as overseeing the annual audit & any special audits. She also manages incoming gifts and monitors financial aspects of all privately and state-funded projects. Contact:


Eleni Kantyltzoglou is the Coordinator of Outreach & Development in the Study Abroad Department of Perrotis College. She was born and raised in New York before returning to her home country of Greece at the age of 15. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Flagler College, USA in Sport Management and Business Administration. Eleni has extensive experience in the tourism industry in Greece, organizing and leading trips for businesses, travelers, and professional groups. Eleni has also successfully coordinated and managed faculty-led groups from large-scale American universities in Greece and abroad. Her love of education and travel motivated her transition to higher education and study abroad. At Perrotis, Eleni directs the promotion, development, and coordination of the study abroad programs. HELEN YARENIS (full time)

Helen Yarenis is the Study Abroad Coordinator of Marketing and Communications at Perrotis College. Born and raised in New Jersey, she received her BA in Psychology from Boston University, USA and CELTA from Center for English Studies in New York. After teaching ESL in Greece for two years, Helen returned to the US to work in the Admissions Department of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She moved back to Greece in 2004, teaching ESL, advising students seeking post-graduate studies and working as an examiner for several language certification bodies.  At Perrotis College, Helen is responsible for creating marketing content and coordinating communication strategies for study abroad programs. Katerina Stamatika is the Arcadia program coordinator and academic learning specialist for the American Farm School and Perrotis college students. She holds a Master's of Science degree in Special Education with specialization in learning disabilities and behavioral issues from Indiana State University. She has been working at the American Farm School for the past 15 years supporting and training students, faculty members and parents. Contact:


Theodosis Tasios  is a Career and Student Services Counselor. He holds two Bachelor degrees in Education and in Psychology, (department of Philosophy - Education - Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ioannina, Greece and University of Sheffield, United Kingdom). He specialized in the education of children with special needs, at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece and holds a Master's of Science degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology.
