LILAS4SOILS is pleased to announce the GRECFL 2 – Greek Carbon Farming Living Lab launch event
LILAS4SOILS is pleased to announce the GRECFL 2 – Greek Carbon Farming Living
Lab launch event, that will take place on the 21st of February of 2025 in Agricultural
University of Athens, Greece.
Living Labs are collaborative approaches involving interested partners in the co-design, monitoring, and evaluation of agricultural practices and technologies on real-life contexts to improve their effectiveness and early adoption. This event will gather farmers, academia, industry, legislators, and civil society representatives to discuss how carbon sequestration practices can generate both environmental and economic benefits and how the Living Lab can foster collaboration across various sectors, to drive effective solutions. This one-day event will be an opportunity for networking and for participants to have an active role in the project. They will be offered the chance to participate in the definition of the Living Lab mission, vision, and objectives; as well as to provide feedback on the proposed carbon farming practices.
GRECFL 2 is funded under the LILAS4SOILS project, which aims at creating 5 Living Labs in 6 different countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Israel), dedicated to the promotion and implementation of carbon farming practices and the monitoring, reporting, and verification of soil health parameters, including soil organic carbon. GRECFL 2 is a national level Living Lab, and it is coordinated by the Agricultural University of Athens, with partners the Perrotis College of the American Farm School, the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives (ETHEAS), and the Region of the Region of Central Greece, with ten pilot stations throughout Greece. Following the GRECFL 2 launch, involved farmers will apply various carbon farming practices with the support of the Living Lab team, being its impact monitored throughout the project lifetime.
Furthermore, in March 2025, LILAS4SOILS will launch an open call to select additional
farmers to enter and establish demonstration sites for the duration of the project. For
GRECFL 2 , 10 additional vacancies will be available in the Greek regions, with access to funding to support project activities and carbon farming practices implementation.
The event will take place in the Agricultural University of Athens in the Multipurpose Room located on the 2nd floor of the vacant administration building (https://g.co/kgs/p6DpE25).
Also, the event will be available for online participation, but registration is required.
