Under the auspices of the Krinos Olive Center and with the participation of Perrotis College professor Dr. Kiki Zinoviadou, the 5th Athena International Olive Oil Competition was completed successfully with the evaluation of samples in Petreza Tower in Spata, Athens from 11-13 June.
430 samples were examined (70 more than last year) while six countries participated for the first time (Australia, China, Brazil, Cyprus, Lebanon and Algeria), bringing the total number of participating countries to 16. It should be noted that the competition was scheduled to take place in early April in Lesvos, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Athena International Olive Oil Competition is organized every year in a different olive growing region of Greece and analyzes extra virgin olive oils from around the world. Well-known chefs participated as guest evaluators: Dina Nikolaou, Gikas Xenakis, Panos Ioannidis and Nikos Thomas.
